Continuation of Risk and protective factors for suicidal ideation and suicidal behaviour among Danish veteran soldiers stationed abroad

Background

In 2012, the Centre for Suicide Research completed the project Risk and protective factors for suicidal ideation and suicidal behaviour among Danish veteran soldiers stationed abroad. Results have been presented at various conferences.

In 2014, a continuation of the project is initaited – Again in collaboration with the FSU (Defence Health Service).

Objective

The objective of the project is to uncover if Danish soldiers are at further risk of suicidal behaviour than a comparable cross section of the Danish population.

Method

• Follow-up interviews with participant soldiers from the previous project
• Combination of Register for Suicides, Register for Suicide Attempts and the Danish National Patient Register

Status

Completed December 2014.
