Register of Suicides

The Register of Suicides is kept on the basis of numbers from The Danish Health Data Authority and their Register of Cause of Death; it covers the years 1970-2021 and lists all registered suicides in Denmark.

When a death occurs, a death certificate is made. This information is transferred to the Register of Cause of Death from which the deaths, that are due to suicides, are drawn.

The Register includes the applied method and date, as well as personal information:  sex, age, marital status and residential district. The register is used as a source for statistics about suicide and for research.

From the Danish Bank of Statistics one can generate data from the Registers. For statistical information in English, please contact the Centre on info@cfsmail.dk.
